First looks have become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason – they offer a unique experience that can add extra magic to your big day.

The benefits of a first look – how it can help improve your wedding photos

If you’re anything like most couples, you’re probably agonizing over every single detail of your wedding day. From the color of the napkins to the type of music played during cocktail hour, there are seemingly endless decisions to make. But one decision that’s worth taking seriously is whether or not to do a first look on your wedding day. Here’s why we think it’s a great idea:

1) You’ll have more time for photos. When you do a first look, you don’t have to worry about squeezing in all your photos after the ceremony. Instead, you can take as much time as you need and enjoy your time together without feeling rushed.
2) You’ll have more emotional photos. It’s no

What is a first look and why should you consider having one on your wedding day

For engaged couples, planning a wedding can be an overwhelming process. There are so many decisions to make and details to consider, from the venue and catering to the dress and flowers. One of the most important choices you’ll make is whether or not to have a first look on your wedding day. Here’s what you need to know about this growing trend.

Saves time

It’s hard to believe that your wedding day is approaching. The time between the planning stages and the day itself seem like its goes by quickly and the planning seems like it’s never ending. Everyone is telling you, “the wedding day itself is over in the blink of an eye.” I whole heartedly agreed with this statement. There are very few moments that you spend the day with your beloved. Which is why I encourage my couples to create time for the two of them with a first look. This is a moment in time where you both are spending 15 mins alone (aside from me, your photographer) during your big day, where you both spent so much time planning for.

Types of first looks

The most common first look is to have the groom stand with his back to where the bride will walk in. I prefer this to be done outdoors as the lighting is always amazing.

Another option is to have the couple stand back-to-back. With this, you can sneak in a first touch before the first look by holding hands. You both turn around while holding one hand. This is a great way to build up the excitement of seeing each other and exchange a few words before seeing each other.

How to plan and execute a first look with your partner

Planning a first look with your partner can be a fun and unique way to experience your wedding day. Here are a few tips to help you plan and execute it flawlessly.
First, decide if you want to do a first look before the ceremony or after. If you opt for before the ceremony, make sure you allot enough time for portraits afterwards. If you choose after the ceremony, consider doing a “reveal” instead of an immediate first kiss. This is where the bride and groom take their time walking down the aisle, see each other for the first time during the recessional, and then have their first kiss as husband and wife.
Whatever option you choose, be sure to communicate clearly with

The best time to plan a first look is right after you both are finished getting ready, before the ceremony.

Don’t want to spoil the first look?

Looking for a way to connect and share an intimate moment just the two of you? I would urge you to opt for a ‘first touch’ it’s a time to exchange heartfelt words or just to ease each other nerves in a private moment. Whatever you decide, it will be a magical moment together.

Tips for couples who are considering doing a first look on their wedding day

When it comes to your wedding day, there are so many traditions and customs to choose from. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to do a first look, here are some tips to help you decide what’s right for you.

Many couples opt for a first look because it allows them some privacy before the ceremony, which can be nice if you want some time alone together. It also eliminates the pressure of walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time in front of all your guests. And if your photographer is suggesting a first look, that’s definitely a good sign – they know how to capture beautiful moments between you and your fiance!

One thing I tell my couples is to relax and let your emotions be natural since it is just the two of you. I hope this has helped you when deciding whether or not to incorporate a first look in your wedding day.
